Sunny conditions greeted the 2014 Scotney Cup Grand Finalists for their Round 6 clash. The Rebels were seeking their first back-to-back wins of the season after their tight away win over Beenleigh, whilst Redcliffe were seeking out to notch up their first victory of the season.

From the start the game was all Rebels, with the home side setting up camp in the opposition half. After a few miscues, the Rebels recorded the first points of the match with a try down the right edge to fullback Mark Lee. Minutes later the Rebels were in again, a crafty kick from centre Mark Wilkinson forcing a discipline error from Redcliffe before lock Sean Murtagh touched down underneath the posts off a quick tap. Wilkinson would score a try of his own before the break to build the Rebels lead to a commanding 19 points heading into the break. The visitors responded with vigour after half-time, but were undone at the set-piece with the Rebels superiority in the scrum and line-out robbing Redcliffe of both the football and any momentum.

The Rebels were able to build this into pressure with multiple try scoring opportunities coming before a high shot on wing Keegan Burns gave the Rebels a penalty try and left both sides a player short after an ensuing exchange of views. Returning wing Alasdair Beveridge would be the beneficiary of a sharp line break to score the Rebels final try of the game. The Rebels can take plenty of positives out of this one, especially their improved defence, heading into their Round 7 clash against Brisbane Hustlers at Bottomley Park where they will look to improve their season record to 4-3.
